MEET THE ARTIST
My creative path has taken me from drawing to filmmaking, then twists and turns of graphic design, wedding photography, until it led me to 12 years of beautiful food photography experience. I am the author of photographs for 8 cookbooks, most of which are published abroad. My photos have appeared in magazines, on large-format street posters, I have given countless interviews about my dream job - food photography. The most memorable food photography adventure for me was a trip (2x!!) to Beirut, Lebanon - this adventure alone could write a book.
But since the two-month trip to Bali at the beginning of 2020, I came back to myself and what I like to do the most - paint!
As a child, I read fairy tales about foreign exotic lands, archaeologists, travelers and princesses. Now I continue to live in these stories - painting them and going out into the world to find inspiration for my paintings. In Dahab I found my love for camels and Bedouin princesses, in a Nubian village I fell in love with colorful African patterns, in Uzbekistan I started to paint the ancient oriental tales of the Silk Road, in the Greek islands I fell in love with the fifty blue shades of water, in Spain the theme of my paintings of southern men began, Latvian summer inspires me to paint gorgeous women with floral motifs, Bali I fell in love and drew a peaceful Buddha and palm trees in the pink sunset sky.
Now I am happy to paint in my studio in the old town of Riga with a view of the Daugava and go on short and far trips to collect new inspirations and paintings for my creative work.
