Painted in Sicily on the roof of Lucia's house in a small town overlooking the mountains. Down in the garden, the orange trees smell temptingly, the owner's old dog is lazily sleeping, the laundry is drying in the sun, the sea is shimmering in the distance, I am listening to one song and I am lucky to apply green paint on the canvas. Behind many kilometers traveled from Latvia to Italy, and then through the whole of Italy, experienced stories and beautiful views of Italy. My favorite moments of creating paintings are exactly like this - being in a different environment and feelings, far away from home.
La Sirena was inspired by southern Italy and tales of sirens. The colors of the sea and Sicily - green and red - inspire. Moon and sun - my life in a car in Italy for two months, when all life happens outside - from sunrise to moonrise.
Sicily vibrated something deeply in me - Arab and African influences, bright colors, dirty streets and inspiration everywhere.
