A tribute to the Nubian village - a place so alive and colorful that you can't help but draw it. A place where there is a completely different rhythm and energy of life.
Nubian Village was my dream village that I dreamed about for two years since I first arrived in Dahab, Egypt. It was so far away then, on the other side of Egypt. But when I finally got there, my way there turned out to be even further: Dahab - Sharm-Sheikh - Riga - Vienna - Sharm-Sheikh - Cairo - Aswan - Nubian village. I knew I would love it there. The first day I walked around like a small child, wide-eyed and excitedly pushing the colors, patterns, shapes.
The small, colorful Nubian village is located in southern Egypt between the Nile and the desert. The villagers speak their own language, have a darker skin color than the Egyptians. Nubians come from Africa, Sudan. They build houses from clay and straw, and paint them in bright colors, decorating them with various patterns. At the entrance door they knock a dried mummified crocodile, because it protects from evil eyes.
Coming back to my home in Dahab after this trip, I created this work in an atypical technique for me - digital illustration.
