My favorite books as a child and now are those where the action takes place in old houses and manors, where ladies walk in long dresses, ride in carriages, gentlemen are elegant and charming, people meet at balls instead of on the Internet and celebrate holidays together. I have always dreamed of living in a castle or a manor for a while.

A romantic Christmas in a manor is not so impossible. Once I had an unusual opportunity to spend Christmas time in one of the Latvian manors - Padure Manor. We burned candles at a long table, walked in long dresses, and in the evening, we read books in silence by the fireplace. It was an unforgettable experience - to feel like an aristocrat of old times.

And this dream inspired me to paint this Christmas piece. My childhood dream.
