I lived in a canal district in Bangkok, where houses float on water, where large lizards and fish swim. All life there takes place on boats, because the streets between the houses are tiny paths where you can walk or skillfully maneuver on a moped. My neighbors were incredibly nice Thai pensioners who went to bed at nine in the evening, and so did I. In the morning, before sunrise, everyone was actively sweeping their porches, watering flowers and waiting for the boat shop that sells morning coffee and other snacks. My little house on the water with a small balcony was the perfect place to draw. Giant lizards lazily swam past, sometimes they climbed into the bushes in the backyard and watched me with their tongues sticking out. The inspiration for this work was a visit to the Buddhist temple - Wat Sam Phran Dragon Temple. This pink tower, surrounded by a large dragon sculpture, reminds me of a fairy tale world of princesses and dragons, which is great material for sparking imagination. And so “Power of Tropical Thai Love” was born, about a tropical princess and her elephant in a fairy tale surrounded by the jungle.
